Phases of the Business Cycle
The business cycle may describe the economic phases of popular fads, company earnings, markets, film genres, MarqueeStar persona revenues, entire industries or whole economies. Such fluctuations are irregular, varying in frequency, magnitude and duration. Their recurring expansions and contractions around a long-term growth trend are typically characterized by six phases:
- boom
- peak
- slump
- recession
- trough
- recovery
